Electric Wok

Current electric wok designs have yet to attain the very high frying temperatures, 450°F (~232°C), that regular stove woks normally reach. And although some electric woks are of good quality materials and construction, they still generally cannot match the durability of the simpler stove woks. The main advantages of the electric woks include convenience (easier to clean, easier to cook with) and versatility (you can cook on a table or on a backyard bench). Electric woks are generally more suitable for pan frying, regular stir frying, or deep frying instead of the authentic Chinese-style stir frying.

Best Wok Review

There are a number of good quality woks available for both kitchen or professional chefs. These include brands such as Calphalon, Circulon, Joyce Chen, and Tayama. Cast iron, or the more popular carbon steel woks are common. Newer designs use two or three different types of metals in a sandwich or cladding configuration. Electric Wok Reviews

Aroma, Breville, and West Bend are three of the more popular makers of electric woks. These companies manufacture woks that usually have nonstick coatings, temperatures selectors, detachable bases (for easy cleaning) and insulated handles. The Breville Electric Wok (EW30XL) probably comes closest in performance compared to a regular stove wok. It's “butterfly” designed heating element enables the wok to reach temperatures of up to 425°F (~218°C).

Best Wok For Cooking

The Aroma 5-quart Heavy-Duty Electric Woks (AEW 306 and AEW-316) are ideal for quick and simple frying, braising, steaming, etc. They come with the best matching see-through lids that have adjustable vents, temperature control selectors, and detachable steam and tempura racks. The West Bend 6-quart Electric Wok has a 1500-watt heating element that rapidly brings the wok to any required frying, steaming, or heating temperature. This large-capacity wok has a detachable temperature control module that allows for easy cleaning in the dishwasher.

Cast Iron Electric Wok

The Aroma 5-quart Heavy-Duty Electric Woks (AEW 306 and AEW-316) are two of the few available electric cast iron woks. Their cast-iron construction allows them to approximate the heating performance of the traditional stove-top woks. These woks weigh only 8.8 lbs.; and they come with a one-year limited warranty. Aroma is a well-known maker of home-quality and commercial-grade kitchen equipment and appliances.
